My work with Marjory Barlow

Marjory Barlow, the niece of F.M. Alexander, was the most experienced living proponent of the Alexander Technique at the time of her death. Born in 1915, she entered the first Alexander teacher training course with Mr. Alexander in London in 1932. She worked as his training assistant after qualifying in 1936, and has taught the Technique continuously since then.
She served twice as the chairperson of The Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique in the UK, and taught master classes and conducted seminars in America, France, Switzerland, Israel, and Australia.

An Examined Life: Marjory Barlow and the Alexander Technique
This book, released in September 2002 by Mornum Time Press of California, is an edited record of conversations between Trevor Allan Davies and Marjory Barlow.
The conversations range widely, covering the history, teaching, practice, philosophy and applications of this proven method of 'whole person self management'. While it is of special interest to Alexander teachers, trainees and experienced pupils, the book will also help newer pupils of the Technique to see the broader potential of the Technique in their lives.
The book also contains transcriptions of Mrs. Barlow's two Alexander Memorial lectures, and a marvellous collection of her Alexander teaching aphorisms, useful for teachers and pupils alike, culled from the memories of the teachers she trained.
An Examined Life  can be ordered directly from Mornum Time Press at their website, or by fax or post. It is also available from Amazon.com.

Review
“An Examined Life: Marjory Barlow And The Alexander Technique is a profoundly insightful and spiritual volume that showcases the "Alexander Technique" for embracing a very special approach to education and understanding wholeness within the human being. It is presented as a series of conversations between Alexander's niece and Trevor Allan Davies, both of whom have been extensively trained as teachers in the Alexander Technique. Enthusiastically recommended reading, An Examined Life is a deep and original look at various and effective ways to sort through the complex and reflective tangle of the mind.”

The Four Books of FM Alexander
A  champion of the purity of Alexander's legacy, she and Trevor Allan Davies made audio recordings of F.M. Alexander's four books: Constructive Conscious Control of the Individual , Man's Supreme Inheritance, The Use of the Self , and The Universal Constant in Living, under the sponsorship of the F.M. Alexander Trust. They are not yet available for purchase.
The clarity of Marjory's interpretation and her assured delivery is a great aid in the understanding of these important books, which many modern readers find a challenge on the printed page.
